NYC
I did not keep a daily blog of my two and a half weeks in New York with Ann and her friend, Sairah. In retrospect, it was one of the best summers I’ve had. Each day consisted of waking up to Ann’s obnoxious Mexican alarm, which did not bother me that much since i’m so used to it, but poor Sairah had no idea there was such an annoying sound, for awhile she ended being the only one getting up to snooze it (still couldn’t get over how funny that was). We did quite a lot in the city, covering all the major parts through sightseeing. Most of our adventures ended up being free of charge, i.e. biking, the major museums, and a movie under the Brooklyn Bridge. I guess if it wasn’t for the two persistent planners, the trip wouldn’t be as fulfilling. Other times were driven by the pursuit of trying to escape boredom. This consisted of downing an equivalency of 5-8 cans of beers before heading to the city (a.k.a. Union Square) only to realize that each of us had bladders filled with beers that needed immediate flushing. This was when 24/7 McDonald came to the rescue. Once we were restored to our functional state of being, we made our way to Union Square, feeling so good and eager to witness people of many backgrounds. There were the hiphop dancers, Italian romancer, the innumerable celebrities’ look-a-like, the convalescents, and your usual drug dealer. But our main attraction, the very core reason why Union Square became the all-nighter kick it spot for us was the skaters! As the trip started winding down, we stayed in more often and become acquainted with Ann’s schoolmates. One night we played several games of beer pong. They happened to get their asses whooped each time me and Sairah partnered up, their shit talking was our drive to retaliation. We had lived carelessly for the past two and a half weeks, unwilling to leave.
